Dr. Stuart Nicholls is a Scientist in Methodological and Implementation Research at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute where he also provides leadership for the Office for Patient Engagement in Research Activities (OPERA). Dr Nicholls' program of research focuses on methodological and implementation challenges pertaining to patient engagement in health research. He also consults with researchers to provide methodological guidance regarding all aspects of Patient-Oriented Research. Dr. Nicholls obtained his MSc in Healthcare Ethics (University of Liverpool, UK) and PhD in Social Statistics (Lancaster University, UK), before moving to Canada in 2011. He has over 20 years of health research experience, publishing over 120 peer reviewed articles on topics including public attitudes to population screening, interest holder perspectives on the ethical challenges in pragmatic clinical trials, the impact of patient engagement in research, and the development of core outcome sets.
